Sale for Vintage clothes In Long Island
I found this on craigslist - I am in no way connected to this sale but I went to it a couple of years back at garage sale day in Sea Cliff Long Island(over by Glen Cove) Its worth is just to go visit the town!! I recall the prices not being dirt cheap(I am one of those people who like to pay a dollar for something)but not too bad, Hey on ebay you have to pay the price of the outfit and shipping!
Well this is just a Public service announcement!
click on link - as I said before I do not even know these people!!http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/gms/432735546.html Current Mood: crazy

Vintage Clothing Store
I found a really nice Vintage Clothing store - It is the a very cool little store FILLED with good quality (and higher priced) vintage clothes, shoes, hats, jewelry and some other things
I talked to the owner and she was very nice
The woman was from Manhattan, had gotten divorced and came out to Islip NY(that's the country for her!) and opened up this store about a year ago. I could've sworn it was there for years!
So I am now promoting it, it really does have nice quality Vintage clothing, it isn't cheap BUT IT IS QUALITY, but she cleans and repairs all her items
This store is amazing and the clothes are in great shape!
Here is the address
Linda's Perennial Clothing
590 Main Street
Islip, NY 11751 Tues- Sat 10-6
So While I was there by the door she had vintage magazines for a dollar! I bought 4 of them 1 McCall's from 1954, One from 1958 - A Woman's home companion from 1947 and one from 1936!
Here is an ad I scanned from the McCall's 1954! Whoo Hoo, there other magazines are filled with cool ads and pictures!

i was driving home from the Ronkonkoma train station today... and almost swerved off the road when two hot rods passed me going south. hm, two together, odd. but acceptable. then a few blocks later, i catch a 40's chevy pickup and an impala... followed a few cars back by a camero. alright, weird... but when the parade of crown vic's finally rolled on past, it FINALLY dawned on me... today must've been the first Gyrodine Flowerfield Car Show! how did i manage to miss that one? bad girl, bad girl. i'll try to be ontop of letting you know about the next one. if there are any other events in your area, please share them with us!
also, i've added a few more shopping links to our info page, but i need more! i'm on a brand new computer feeling a bit lost without all of my old bookmarks. please help me, share your favorites with the group! Current Mood: bouncy

Vintage and Retro stores on Long Island...
Hey guys! My name is MaryBeth and I'm REALLY excited that you made this community! I know a lot of people who will be willing to make LJ accounts just to join a group like this.
Anyway I'm really interested in many periods of vintage style fashion and I have, for YEARS, been trying to find a really steady vintage store. I often end up looking in Newsday for local Tag Sales, calling the tag sale # and asking if they are selling clothing. (Estate sales are fantastic, too...and garage sales...but I prefer Estate and Tag because they tend to sell like..EVERYTHING in the house). I don't go to them as much as I'd like to since I don't have a car right now.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone's been to "MY INHERITANCE". It is a store in Huntington. I looked up "Long Island Vintage Stores" on google and a yellow pages directory came up for it. They don't have a website, but I think I'm going to call their number in tomorrow (because its late right now) and ask what kind of things they carry. The yellowpagey site simply listed:
Elegant and luxury clothing, accessories, fur coats and jewelry
30 Gerard Street, Huntington
I'm really curious about this! I'll let you guys know what they have after I call.
Also, what are everyone's favorite antique stores? There is a really cool 2 building one in the Saint James area that has some fantastic jewelry. I've been there only once but have always meant to go again.

it's derby time!
if anyone here lives on long island (NY), the long island roller rebels
have their first bout coming up on saturday, april 14th at skate safe! all the information can be found on their website. i just wanted to get the word out there. many of the chicks sport fantastic vintage hair-do's, and the entire sport its self is a throw back to the past! there's nothing listed yet, but there's usually live bands at their shows too.
come check 'em out! if it's anything like last season, this should be a GREAT time. and if i have my way, i might end up on the team some day too! Current Mood: bouncy
